Nicholas Alchin

27 March 2017

High School Principal and Deputy Head, UWCSEA East

Nick started at UWC of South East Asia Dover in 1995. Fresh from the UK he quickly learnt a love of Service, Mathematics, Outdoor Expeditions, Theory of Knowledge and a million other things. In 2001 he left Singapore to explore teaching in Switzerland, the UK and Kenya, but the lure of the start-up of the then new East Campus was too much to resist and he re-joined in 2012. He feels privileged to work with such a wonderful, energetic and optimistic community. Ethnically sino-celtic, he enjoys traveling with his family - all of whom attend or teach in UWC South East Asia - and has so far visited eight of the UWCs (he is always open to further invitations). An ex-IB Chief Assessor worldwide for Theory of Knowledge and ex-Vice Chair of the IB Examining Board, he is a textbook author, IB examiner, workshop leader, blogger and consultant who writes and speaks widely on various topics related to education.

“Everyday, and that is no exaggeration, I remember what a privilege it is to serve an inspiring mission with exceptional people”
