UNIC HEALTH University of Nicosia

8 October 2019
Nicosia, Cyprus

This scholarship programme aims to provide annually variable numbers of scholarships and bursaries that may be available to the UWC students in their final IB Diploma Year in undergraduate degree programmes at University of Nicosia Medical School & School of Veterinary Medicine.

Starting in September 2024, the UNIC Health scholarships will be available for the following courses:

  • For UWC students who successfully secure a place on the 5-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program, the School of Veterinary Medicine will offer an automatic 30% scholarship, for the duration of their study. A scholarship application will need to be submitted as a formality. Nevertheless, the 30% will be awarded to successful UWC students, regardless of their financial background.
  • For UWC students who secure a place on the 6-year undergraduate-entry MD program (MD6) at the Medical School, an automatic scholarship of 20% will be awarded, also for the duration of the studies and upon submitting the relevant application form.
Eligibility criteria

Candidates must:

  • Be a final-year student attending a UWC school and college (or have completed their studies in the preceding calendar year - candidates from Waterford Kamhlaba UWC only);
  • Apply for admission to the University of Nicosia Medical School or School of Veterinary Medicine in respect of the annual application review for the next academic Fall intake deadlines for a full-time undergraduate degree programme of study and successfully complete the interview and secure a place on either program of study;
  • Although the scholarship is described as “automatic,” scholarship application information will be reviewed for sufficient funds by the student’s sponsor to cover the remaining tuition and the student’s living expenses during their studies.
Selection process and timelines
  • Submitted applications will be reviewed initially for academic eligibility based on predicted or actual grades and eligible students will proceed to an online interview. Upon completion of the interview stage, they will receive an official decision. Successful candidates will then proceed to submit their scholarship applications.
  • The University of Nicosia has one intake each year for both the Medical School & the School of Veterinary Medicine, in September.
  • The University of Nicosia Medical School and the School of Veterinary Medicine employ a rolling admissions policy, reviewing applications and issuing offer letters (Conditional or Unconditional) as they are received. It is highly recommended for students to apply early to secure their seats and accommodation options. Applications with predicted grades or mid-term results are accepted to facilitate this.
How to apply

Annually, any IBDP2 student enrolled at a UWC school or college may apply directly for admission to the 6-year undergraduate MD degree or to the 5-year Doctor of Veterinary degree, and for scholarship consideration once they successfully complete the admission steps.

Each application must be accompanied by all required documentation, as will be determined by University of Nicosia Health and may vary annually.
