Building and Crossing Bridges / Belgium

14-28 July 2018

We live in a polarized and multicultural world which increasingly lacks dialogue among this diversity within groups. The overall goal of the UWC Short Course Belgium 2018 is to provide a platform that increases multicultural understanding among all participants. Over the 14 days, the 50 participants aged 15 to 19 will take part in a variety of workshops, physical and mental exercises, discussions, creative activities, and games aimed at:

  •     Creating a diverse multicultural group that celebrates difference
  •     Building safe spaces based on the principle of mutual respect
  •     Leading participants to social responsibility
  •     Designing a program that challenges participants in every possible way
  •     Helping participants realize their potential

Building and crossing bridges will serve as a metaphor throughout the short course. The course will allow participants from different cultural, socio-economic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds to share their visions of the world, explore different views, and build ‘bridges’ with each other. The programme aims to provide a life-changing experience that makes each participant a full member of the UWC movement.
