Story of an Illustrator

29 March 2017

Currently based in Ohio, USA, Anne Passchier (The Netherlands, Waterford Kamhlaba UWCSA 2009-2010) is an illustrator and surface designer, creating art for children’s books, magazines, and educational publications for young people.

Their passion for art started before joining UWC, as they grew up in a family of avid quilters - something which encouraged a fascination with fabrics and the creative aspect of different patterns. Anne fondly remembers the art trips and all the inspiration to be found in the local art community during the UWC years, as well as the encouragement from the other UWC students to pursue their passion - which they did! Anne has graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design in Florida, and got a job as a gift wrap designer for a major greeting card company: "I love working in a place that uses art to emphasize togetherness and happiness during the special occasions in a person’s life, and to help people express love and gratitude towards each other".
