Amala

16 May 2018

Founded by two UWC alumnae, Amala's objective is to provide young refugees with the tools they require to overcome obstacles, and grow towards becoming a generation of empowered individuals.

Amala (formerly known as Sky School) is a not-for-profit which enables learners who are displaced and affected by conflict to access secondary education programmes, using a blended learning (online and offline) approach. Their mission is to use transformative education to create opportunities and inspire positive change in the lives of refugees and their communities.

Amala has developed the first international high school curriculum for young people who are displaced, and also offers short programmes in areas such as Peace-building, Ethical Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship. Their programmes enable youth to develop agency, create opportunities and make change.
