UWC Zambia Runs First Short Course of 2018

9 May 2018

As the academic year for most UWC schools and colleges comes to a close, the season for many UWC short courses has arrived! There are over 20 short courses planned to take place across the globe this year, making a UWC educational experience more accessible than ever before.

Exceptional Youth, which ran between 24 and 29 April, was the first UWC short course beginning in 2018. This six-day-long programme was led by the UWC Zambia National Committee, and gave almost 20 young people the opportunity to learn, work and serve together to empower them as changemakers.

Activities during this year’s Exceptional Youth short course included workshops on social entrepreneurship, financial management and globalization. Short course participants also spoke to current students at UWC ISAK Japan about career planning, and about life in the multicultural environment of a UWC college.

zambia 3Some other fun and horizon-broadening activities included a “no-English breakfast”, which gave participants and facilitators the opportunity to share their other language skills, and a “service day” when the group contributed to a local community school.

Congratulations to the short course graduates, and thanks to all the wonderful facilitators!
