Volunteer

UWC is built on the passion and commitment of more than 4,000 volunteers worldwide.

There are plenty of ways to get involved in the movement. We welcome the contributions of people from all walks and stages of life, whether you’re an experienced professional looking to contribute to a worthwhile cause, or a young graduate seeking valuable work experience.

Volunteer with a UWC national committee

Our national committees are run by people who understand the culture of their country or territory, and the communities that surround them.

Many of these people are volunteers, from new starters to experienced decision makers. Whether you’re a UWC alum wanting to assist your local national committee, the parent of a current or former UWC student wanting to help the people who supported your child for two years, or you simply know UWC and are keen to contribute - get in touch.

You’re welcome to volunteer with a UWC national committee in your current home country, with one that previously selected you, or with one that is close to your heart.

Volunteer with a UWC school or college

It takes many people - with a range of skills - to make a great school work.

Our schools are always open to hearing from volunteers, whether you’re a parent or community member looking to help out, or a student or graduate looking to develop.

UWC alumni and other community members can contribute in a variety of ways. Opportunities vary, from supporting the Communications and Marketing teams, to volunteering in the Admissions offices and more, depending on available vacancies as well as your skills and interests.

To learn about volunteer opportunities, contact your local UWC school.

Volunteer with UWC International

You can also play a role in guiding UWC’s global activities by volunteering at UWC International.

UWC International has offices in London and Berlin, and we love hearing from people who want to assist us and gain valuable work experience.

If you choose to volunteer with UWC International, you could be helping out with the:

  • Programmes Team, which supports UWC national committees and schools with development and strategy
  • Communications and Engagement Team, which runs all internal, external and community communications
  • Philanthropy Team, which manages major gifts, and researches and develops funding opportunities
  • Finance and Administration Team, which is responsible for financial and administrative operations
  • Education Team, which looks at new programmes and develops important initiatives including around safeguarding and mental health

Opportunities tend to last at least two or three months, either part-time or full-time, with flexible hours and the chance to set your goals with your line manager.

You’ll get:

  • Hands-on experience in a stimulating and multicultural working environment
  • Direct contact with UWC staff and education thought-leaders
  • The chance to meet and socialise with UWC alumni and other peers at UWC events
  • Work references, and the chance to learn from UWC professionals about how to make an impact and develop global networks

Unfortunately, we cannot provide visas for nationals outside the EU or EEA, so applicants must have the right to work in their chosen office for the duration of their placement. However, you may choose to work remotely from anywhere, if the position allows.
