Pestalozzi-UWC Scholarship Programme

Pestalozzi provides high quality educational opportunities for exceptional 16-19 year-olds from some of the world’s poorest communities, developing their potential and helping them to make a positive difference in the world. Pestalozzi International Foundation invests in the education of high achieving but low income students who would not be able to complete their secondary schooling without scholarship support. These young people are selected on the basis of their potential to become future leaders who will have the ability and knowledge to positively impact the lives of many others. The programme helps break the cycle of intergenerational poverty for the students themselves and equips them to make a significant difference in society.

In 2019 the Pestalozzi International Foundation entered into a partnership with UWC International, and together started the Pestalozzi-UWC Scholarship Programme targeting students coming from underprivileged and marginalised backgrounds who would not have the opportunity to complete their education without scholarship support. The first five Pestalozzi-UWC Scholars entered UWC in August 2019. The charity supported a further three Scholars in 2020, five in 2021 and eight in 2022.

"At Pestalozzi International Foundation, we believe that giving young people the opportunity to further their education leads to a better future for everyone. Not only do we offer our students the means of develop their abilities and reach their academic potential, we also ensure they fully engage with the Pestalozzi philosophy of head, heart and hands. In the words of our esteemed ambassador, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, 'When educating the minds of our youth, we must not forget to educate their hearts.'"
