UWC Atlantic is the founding College of the UWC global education movement. Its home is the beautiful 12th Century St Donat’s Castle in South Wales, where students from over 90 countries come for two years to live and work together in a dynamic learning landscape.

UWC is a deliberately diverse, mission-driven international college with a strong commitment to the educational principles of Kurt Hahn, its founder, and a passionate belief in the importance of education as a force for good in the world - to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.

Since 1962, UWC has entrusted students with authentic responsibility and guided them to make appropriate choices and to learn from their mistakes. It is through this trust, responsibility and accountability that students learn that they can make a difference (‘You are needed’) and that through effort and engagement they can achieve far more than they ever imagined (‘There is more in you than you think’).

UWC empowers bridge-builders, systems changers and compassionate global citizens through the delivery of a pioneering and distinctive IB (International Baccalaureate) educational model.

Our community extends from the resident students and employees who live and work here; to our alumni, parents, Governors, neighbours, businesses, contractors, VIPs and government - and almost everyone else in between. Local or global, the one thing they all have in common is that they are our guests. Whether they stay for a day, or for two years of study, we will ensure that everyone receives the warmest of welcomes and that their experience of UWC Atlantic is always a happy, positive and memorable one.

That is where every single member of our Welcome Team excels - and where you can make the difference.

A critical component of the Facilities Management service, the Welcome Team works in conjunction with our Grounds Maintenance and Facilities Management, Housekeeping, Catering and Building Maintenance Teams.

Putting the College, our students, residents and campus life at the heart of all its operations, the Welcome Team provides a 24/7/365 service, acting as a first point of contact for all visitors on arrival, ensuring an excellent and consistent experience and an approach that meets the needs of the wide variety of guests we receive.

You will play a key role in representing the face of the College, delivering excellent pastoral and wellbeing support to students, and helping residents, visitors and guests with any queries they may have. The team is also responsible for monitoring campus security and access control throughout the year, ensuring the safety of visitors and event attendees alongside the students who reside here.

You will have experience of working in a customer facing environment and your communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to communicate effectively at all levels, often with individuals who do not have English as their first language and are a long way from home. Able to work collaboratively, efficiently and well under pressure, you will support your colleagues across the College and have experience of working with a variety of different systems and procedures. You will have experience of providing wellbeing support to students and also in supporting any issues / emergencies that arise overnight.

If you have a genuine commitment and desire to deliver a first class service and work closely with colleagues, we would be delighted to receive an application from you.
