UWC Maastricht

Join Our Global Community at UWC Maastricht

UWC Maastricht is more than a school: it is a vibrant international community where students from over 100 nationalities come together to learn, grow and make a difference. As part of the global UWC movement, with 18 schools worldwide, we use education as a force for peace and a sustainable future. From age 4 to 18, students experience a truly international environment where diversity is celebrated and learning extends far beyond the classroom.

If you’re passionate about communications, community building and working in a mission-driven setting: this is your opportunity.

Role Overview

We are looking for a creative and motivated Junior Communication & Alumni Officer to join our Advancement Team. Your work will help grow our community, engage alumni and support fundraising for scholarships: enabling students from all backgrounds to attend UWC Maastricht.

You will be part of a small and committed team, contributing to meaningful projects that reflect the school’s mission. This role offers a great opportunity to build your career in communications and engagement.

Please note: due to immigration regulations, this role requires an EU passport.

Key Responsibilities

Content & Branding: Create and manage engaging content for newsletters, social media, brochures and the website: including storytelling, photography and video. Ensure consistency with our tone and visual identity.

Marketing & Promotion: Support recruitment campaigns, promotional materials and the yearbook. Help write clear and persuasive grant applications and sponsorship proposals.

Alumni Relations: Grow and engage our alumni community: manage platforms, organise events and reunions, and promote their involvement in school life and giving back initiatives.

Internal Communication: Support the flow of internal information to help our teams stay connected.

Event Support: Assist with the planning and delivery of Advancement events: including alumni gatherings and community activities.

What We’re Looking For

Working at UWC Maastricht means embracing our mission to make education a force for peace and a sustainable future. We expect all staff members to embody our core values: international and cultural understanding, celebration of diversity, personal responsibility and integrity, mutual respect, compassion and service, respect for the environment, a sense of idealism, personal challenge and growth, and taking action by leading through example.

For this role, we are looking for someone who brings:

  • A passion for communication: You have a relevant degree and/or hands-on experience
  • A strong presence online: You are eager to enhance our digital communication and social media
  • Excellent language skills: You write and speak fluent English (Dutch is a plus)
  • Attention to detail: You are organised and thrive in a fast-moving environment
  • A collaborative mindset: You are flexible, proactive and enjoy working closely with others

Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a short assignment.

UWC Maastricht is an inspiring and fast-paced workplace. If you are ready to contribute to our mission and want to grow in a meaningful role: we would love to hear from you.

What We Offer

  • A full-time position: 40 hours per week on average
  • A generous number of vacation days
  • The option to work from home one day a week: to be agreed within the team, supporting work-life balance
  • A competitive salary based on scale 9 (€3179 to €4804, depending on experience and based on a full time job)
  • Participation in the school’s pension scheme via the ABP Pension Fund and, if applicable, support with the 30% Facility for Incoming Employees with the Dutch Tax Authorities
  • Training and professional development opportunities: we deeply value learning and encourage our staff to keep growing, because when you grow, our whole community benefits
  • A close-knit Advancement Team of four who value both hard work and personal connection
