Council member - Chair of UWC East Africa's Governing Board

After graduation with a Masters in Agricultural Engineer from the university of Leuven, Belgium, Tine moved to Tanzania to work for a Belgian NGO. In the past 25 years, she worked in development initiatives from grassroots to international level in the areas of agriculture and development with non-for-profit organisations, governmental organisations and private companies. she has managed long-term programmes in good governance, agriculture and community development and conducts a variety of consultancy activities in East and Southern Africa, such as strategic planning processes, programme evaluations, developing and delivering training courses in project management and organisational development.

Tine approaches work and life with an open mind and heart, a positive outlook and a pragmatic approach. She enjoys to learn and grow professionally. She is a keen and effective networker and has a particular focus on thinking and working visually, which I integrate in my training and facilitation work. I also work as a graphic recorder.

Tine is serving on two boards on a voluntary basis, namely the AfricAid Board of Directors and the Governing Board of the UWC East Africa, soon to be the 18th UWC and the 2nd in Africa. As chair of UWC East Africa's Governing Board, she has led the school to become the 18th UWC.

"I believe that by joining UWC, our school can do even more and better of what we have been doing in the past 50 years: raising individuals that care about our world and will make a difference in their own lives and the lives of the people they interact with. Joining UWC also means that we need to reflect on our practices and challenge ourselves, in all aspects of our school, from education, students, staffing, leadership, governance..."
