Somalia, Waterford Kamhlaba UWC of Southern Africa (2018-2020)

Abdullahi (19) originates from Galkayo, in the province of Puntland, Somalia. Abdullahi recalls that growing up in Somalia exposed him to worst acts of tribalism and segregation of clans based on ideologies which led to widespread violence. “That is why I want a UWC education. I want the necessary capacity required to advocate and mobilise Somalian communities to understand the values of peace and stability,” he says.

“I feel empowered. I am involved in quite a number of activities at Waterford and a UWC education is giving me the necessary skills I need to make a meaningful contribution to the world.”
