Initiative for Peace - Timor-Leste
UWC South East Asia
Initiative for Peace (IfP) was founded by a group of staff and students and teachers at UWC of South East Asia in 2001 to promote peace in global, national and regional conflicts. IfP conferences now take place annually. Since 2007, UWC South East Asia conferences have focussed on Timor-Leste. The IfP conferences bring together youths from two sides of a conflict to work on conflict management with the aim of creating permanent youth-led conflict management organisations around the world. The conferences are organised by students and staff at UWC South East Asia.
The latest conference, organised by UWC South East Asia, took place in Dili, Timor-Leste in June 2011
. Young Timorese students discussed key issues for young people in Timor-Leste, developed skills in negotiation and public speaking and created projects they will now take forward in their own communities. You can read about the 2011 conference in our news section,

The next conference will take place from 16 - 23 June 2012
