LPC MI LinkingLinking – in person
Linking groups at all the Colleges have been working tirelessly during the last year to improve inter-UWC communications between the student bodies – but most of their work has been through email and the internet. The linking group at Li Po Chun UWC recently travelled to Mahindra UWC to spend some ‘real time’ with their fellow students and take part in project week activities.

A group of twenty students and staff traveled from Hong Kong to India, exchanging the bustle of city life at Li Po Chun UWC for six days experiencing life on the rural Mahindra UWC campus.  “Although some of the participants were not members of the linking group, the understanding was that we would all work on particular aspects of life at Mahindra,” explains Magan Savant, Linking Group Coordinator. The group compared the different academic and social issues that affect them as students – spending time looking at CAS, daily schedules, extra curricular activities, ‘Global Affairs’, the food and cafeteria, academic pressure and student- teacher relationships – and comparing them all with life at LPCUWC.

“We had a great time experiencing community life, academics, services, the villages and the beautiful surroundings,” says Magan.  “We exchanged some good ideas, and discussed many different issues. The Mahindra students also put on cultural performances and we presented our life at LPCUWC through a skit and slide show.”

“It worked wonderfully for the two linking groups as an experiment. We learnt a lot, and have definite findings and suggestions,” says Magan. “The experience and the information gathered and assimilated is of tremendous importance not only to Mahindra and LPCUWC but will also be interesting and useful for all the UWC’s.”
