UWC Graduate, Dan Marshall (AC 68-70), has donated $US15,000 to set up a United World Sustainability Fund which is available to current students and recent graduates. “Arguably the most significant issue facing our species is the imbalance between our resource consumption and the Earth’s ability to generate resources” says Dan. “Global warming is just the tip of the iceberg. UWC is ideally positioned to address this issue. I am aware that to explore our options, we need passion, creativity, perspective, and energy but also funding.

The United World Sustainability Grant is intended to provide at least some of the funding.”

The Award may be granted either to research endeavours or practical projects which implement sustainable living practices. Currently this is a one-time, one-donor, fund.

More details, and application forms for both individuals applying for the grant, and for graduates who would like to participate in the awarding of the grant, are available at this website:http://home.comcast.net/~uwsustainability/Primary.htm

The deadline to apply for a grant is Sunday 06 July 2008.
