Oscar Ugalde (USA 87-89) works as an Administrative Coordinator for an international undergraduate university programme in Costa Rica. Of his UWC experience Oscar says, "UWC was an exceptional experience by which I was able to acquire cross-cultural tolerance and international understanding. It has provided me with the tools to confront a very demanding world."
After UWC, Oscar continued his university education at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he obtained his BA in Economics. He spent his third year in the UK at the London School of Economics. In 1993 he returned to Costa Rica where he worked for a few years in the cooperative sector before he began lecturing at the university.
In 1995 he started his MBA at the Latin American University of Science and Technology with a specialisation in trade. In 2001 he attended the Institute of Social Studies in the Netherlands where he obtained a MA in Development Studies.
After completing his MA in Development Studies Oscar returned to Costa Rica where he took up the post of Administrative Coordinator for the Global College of Long Island University’s Costa Rica Centre which runs a four-year experiential undergraduate programme, “It is a real pleasure to work for such a wonderful international programme and with such wonderful students.”
At the moment, he dedicates his free time to studying French and German as well as doing research in economics. His hobbies are working out at the gym, jogging, watching French movies, and visiting his family.
