Marina Catena (AD 85-87) currently works for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) as an Inter Agency Affairs Officer, in the Resources and External Relations Division where she heads up the communications work of the agency.
On graduating from Adriatic College, Marina studied Political Science at the University of Rome.
After gaining her degree Marina spent seven years with the Commission of the European Union working in the field of humanitarian aid and information campaigns for the defence of Afghani women and children for Commissioner Emma Bonino.
Between 1999-2001 she served as the Protocol and External Affairs Officer to the Special Representative of the Secretary General-UNMIK (Kosovo), before working as a political counselor to Rome’s special envoy in Iraq.
Alongside her work for the WFP, Marina works with the Italian daily paper La Stampa and in 2002 published her first book: Il treno per Kosovo Polje, which discusses the United Nations arrival in the Balkans.
