Digital and Social Media Volunteer

UWC International Communications Committee seeks volunteer with digital and/or social media expertise.

We are looking for someone who has extensive knowledge, experience and can provide support and advice in the following areas:
  • Website development and digital communications for medium to large, preferably international, organisationsContent Management Systems, web editing software packages and other emerging technologies
  • Social media
  • Web technologies and their application, in particular community platforms
  • Principles and application of search engine optimisation
  • e-Campaigning, e-Fundraising and new developments in digital technology
  • Social media
The Communications Committee’s remit includes:
  • To take forward on behalf of the International Board and UWC Council those bodies’ responsibilities in relation to communications
  • To approve or when appropriate to recommend to the Board for approval communications strategies, plans and budgets as proposed by the Communications Director and Executive Director, and to monitor progress
  • To support, advise and assist the Communications Director in implementing a communications strategy, including in connection with branding and internal and external communications
  • To advise and assist the Communications Director in mobilising the support of media for the benefit of the whole UWC organisation or for individual Colleges and National Committees; Committee members may also be asked to act as spokespersons if appropriate
  • Contingency and reputation management
You will need to be able to dedicate approximately 30 hours (excluding any travel) annually to be split between formal meetings and issues based support. It is anticipated that we will hold four meetings annually – ideally three as one-hour teleconference calls and one face to face meeting to be held alongside the annual UWC Council Meeting that usually takes place each October at one of our schools or colleges

Applicants who reach the second stage will also be vetted by the UWC International Nominating and Governance Committee as part of its responsibility to confirm Board Committee membership.
