Tax efficient giving

Many countries have a scheme where the government will repay the tax you’ve paid on your donation.

UK tax payers

If you are a UK taxpayer, paying income tax and/or capital gains tax you can make your donation worth 25% more – at no cost to yourself by signing up to Gift Aid.  For example, a £100 donation to UWC is worth an extra £25 – we claim direct from the Inland Revenue making your gifts worth even more.

To qualify for Gift Aid, you must pay an amount of UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the tax that UWC reclaims on your donations in the appropriate tax year (currently 25p for each £1 given).

If you are a higher rate UK taxpayer, you can claim additional tax relief on any donations you make through your tax return or by contacting your tax office.

Tax payers in other countries

As a UK registered charity, the UWC International Office can only claim tax from UK taxpayers back through the UK Gift Aid scheme. However, if you are donating directly to a school or college please contact them for information on tax efficient giving.

UWC students teach others traditional dance, music and songs from their home culture.  Cultural shows provide an opportunity for all to participate.
